Late for Work: It’s a Rough Life Season 2, Episode 7

It’s a Rough Life, a reality series about Johnny Roughneck.

Johnny meets back up with BART Tour at Karl Watson Day/ Hood Games at Town Park in Oakland. Then it’s back to the city for the last session at Potrero Park and the after party at Hotel Utah.

It’s Monday inspiration with Busenitz. This video has been getting Jeremey hyped (and making him want to skate). Even if you don’t like skating, enjoy the steez and the SF scenery. This is how it’s done.

Late for Work, Rough Life Season 2 Finale

We have arrived! At the Hotel Utah? The end of BART Tour 2011? The end of Rough Life? Yes, Yes, and hope not.

Season 2 is a wrap. This episdoe gets us from the tattoo shop to the Hotel Utah with sick sessions at Town Park/ Hood Games, and Potrero Park in between. Johnny is Johnny, and this is the most BART Tour-esque episdoe of the season with longer skate montages, and we hope the feeling of being on the street level of the tour. By this point in the day we were EXHAUSTED. We’d been all over the Bay Area and our arms could barely hold up our camera rigs. As Johnny says, “I can’t believe it myself”, and that’s how we felt by the time we got to the Utah (and even now wrapping up the season).

It’s been a crazy ride producing the Roughneck web show. Our regret, if we had one is that we didn’t have the budget to stick on Johnny 24/7 for some real Roughneck hi jinx. Now our attention will shift to pitching Rough Life to cable networks so that we can get a budget to do it proper. Enjoy the last episode. Talk more soon. WE OUT HERE!

Johnny ditched the tour after the Richmond session. Turns out he met up with Paola at a tattoo shop in Oakland to get inked. Will anybody notice that he’s gone?

Season 2 of “It’s a Rough Life” is about the events leading up to and during BART Tour 2011. The stakes have changed for Roughneck and BART Tour is no different.

QUIK

This awesome vid from the Berrics.com crossed our desks this morning. Skate film, East LA, great cinematography… sounds like Monday Inspiration.

QUIK is a collaboration between theberrics.com and Quiksilver. It’s a film shot exclusively on the sidewalks and streets of Los Angeles giving an unprecedented look into the world of street skating. Captured entirely from a moving vehicle, the film follows Austyn Gillette as he skates through the neighborhoods of LA’s historic east-side and downtown at top speed.

Could Be Worse

Like all episodes of Rough Life this one was a little hectic, a little disorganized, and a lot of fun to produce. One of the RNCK guys really was supposed to take Johnny to his “secret” mission, but everybody with a car had ditched the tour by that point. So it fell on us to get Johnny to his non-BART Tour destination. I kept asking him why we weren’t at BART Tour, and like Tyler thought that his “responsibility” for the street team answer was a bunch of bull. The truth is Paola’s tattoo episode from Season 1 was really popular, and Johnny wanted in on it. That’s pretty funny to me. @jeremeylavoi

Stuck in the Mud: It’s a Rough Life Season 2, Episode 5

Stuck the Mud was a little chaotic to shoot because there were so many moving parts. Luckily we had Tyler on the fish-eye skate cam and Jeremey picking up artsy shots. Abby really came through covering Johnny and his little bubble of chaos. This is the first true skate stop of the tour, so we’re hoping skaters enjoy that aspect of it (a lot of kids have been asking for the BART 2011 footage). Normally we turn around a little skate edit the week after. We’re hoping that this more in depth coverage of the event and what it means to the Roughneck crew satisfies all the people who have been waiting for this footage. Oh, and Shawn Connolly rips.

The crew finally makes it to Richmond skatepark. Chaos ensues as the cops show up, Johnny is called into work, and Mr. Roughneck reveals that he’s going to leave BART Tour for… a secret mission?

Got a Problem: It’s a Rough Life Season 2, Episode 4

This episode gets us to the first stop, but it’s really about the action on the train.

The race down Market has begun. It’s BART TOUR! The crowd hits the trains headed for Richmond Park, but not without a little visit from the BART Police. Meanwhile Jimmie is having his own issues with Johnny’s Prius. And where is Matty P?

One Bolt Short, It’s a Rough Life… yes it is @aroughlife

Finally, BART Tour 2011 is kicking off in this episode… but not without a few hiccups. Like all the episodes of Rough Life, this one was a blast to film. When we showed up at Lower Haighters to shoot the BART Tour pre-party, there was hardly anybody around and we were wondering if BART Tour was happening this year. We headed to get coffee with Johnny and Tyler, and when we got back to the shop some of the RNCK Street Team and Team Riders were skating the intersection and we knew it was going to be a good day. Enjoy the episode.

Stakes is High for Johnny Rough

This episode was fun to produce. Thanks to Paola for being a good sport (with Johnny) and with us.

It’s almost time for BART Tour, but first Johnny has to make some last minute preparations with the ex-wife. Paola is not too psyched about him shrugging off his family responsibilities to barge trains all day with skaters.
