It’s Friday, time to learn something. A big mistake that filmmakers make is underestimating the importance of sound. We prefer to hire a dedicated sound person for production and an engineer for post. Unfortunately the budget isn’t always there in this one man band world. Sometimes you have to do it yourself. If that sounds like you, then it’s important to know what you’re getting in to. Check out this series from Zacuto and Clinton Harn.
There are three rather in depth articles. One on Sound Perspectives, and two on Tools of the Trade (Part 1 and Part 2). If you’re serious about filmmaking it’s important to understand all aspects of the trade, even if you don’t necessarily want to be a sound person. Get educated.
